Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, January 20, 2012 – CBC Hockey Night in Canada’s Cassie Campbell-Pascall and Ron MacLean, along with CBC’s The National anchor Peter Mansbridge are set to headline events in Summerside and Charlottetown as part of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada celebrations.
“We are excited that Cassie, Ron and Peter have agreed to headline these unique events,” said Rob Newson, Chair of the Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada Local Organizing Committee. “We have worked hard to create events that offer something of interest for everyone and these intimate functions will bring a unique opportunity for Islanders to be a part of something special.”
Kevin “Boomer” Gallant from CBC News Compass PEI will emcee the Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada Lunch with two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, six-time World Hockey Champion and CBC Hockey Night in Canada commentator Cassie Campbell-Pascall. Joining Cassie is her colleague and host of CBC Hockey Night in Canada Ron MacLean. The lunch will take place Thursday, February 9th at FiveElevenWest (adjacent to EastLink Arena) in Summerside at 12:00pm. The Local Organizing Committee has partnered with the Greater Summerside Area Chamber of Commerce to present the event.
CBC News Compass PEI host, Bruce Rainnie, will emcee the Scotiabank Breakfast with Peter Mansbridge the following morning, Friday, February 10th. Mansbridge is the chief correspondent of CBC News and anchor of CBC’s flagship nightly news program, The National. In more than 40 years with CBC
News, Mansbridge has provided comprehensive coverage of the most significant stories in Canada and around the world. During a decorated career, Peter Mansbridge has received 12 Gemini Awards for excellence in broadcast journalism. Joining the CBC news anchor is hockey broadcasting legend Dick Irvin. The breakfast will be held at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel in Charlottetown at 7:30am.

Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada 2012, taking place February 8 – 11, 2012, celebrates and pays tribute to Canada’s shared passion for hockey.
